La Gomera hosts one of the stops on this year’s #NOWINTERFEST tour, which offers a repertoire of well-known hit songs by female jazz singers. This Friday (6 December) sees the Atlantic Jazz Lab Orchestra (AJLO) and Esther Van Hees perform A Serenade with the Ladies of Jazz at 8pm in the Auditorium in San Sebastián de La Gomera. Admission is free, thanks to San Sebastián de La Gomera Town Council’s collaboration with the event.
The #NOWINTERFEST show offers a unique cultural experience with an added tourism flavour given that the concerts take place in very special venues, unique settings in the Canaries that are perfectly suited for a repertoire of jazz classics.
This latest edition of #NOWINTERFEST is sponsored by the government of the Canary Islands, via the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and Next Generation EU funds, the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development, the Lanzarote Cabildo, San Sebastián de La Gomera Town Council and the town councils of Valverde and Antigua.
Other collaborating bodies include the Cabildos of Fuerteventura, La Gomera and El Hierro, together with Breña Alta Town Council in La Palma.

These unique shows will familiarise audiences with the legacy of jazz’s great divas and the genre’s best-known songs down the ages, thanks to a carefully selected repertoire of great hits by household names and other top female jazz 2 singers, including Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Peggy Lee, Diana Krall, Anita O’Day and Carmen McRae.
