Constanze y Frank son visitantes habituales de nuestra isla. Ellos nos han enviado un relato de su último viaje a La Gomera. La crónica y las fotografías que lo acompañan son de ellos mismos, y la traducción en español ha sido gracias a la colaboración de la Asociación para un Turismo Sostenible de La Gomera. Este relato formará parte de la sección Historias de Viajeros de La Gomera, que ATUSOS Gomera impulsa con el objetivo de que estos relatos inspiren a nuevos y antiguos viajeros, y dentro de muy poco, puedan regresar a La Gomera, donde les esperamos.
TEXTO EN ESPAÑOL: “NUESTRA INOLVIDABLE EXPERIENCIA RECUPERANDO EL BOSQUE TERMÓFILO EN LA GOMERA”
Querida Barbara, ¡espero que tú y tu familia estén bien, que todos estemos sanos y nos veamos pronto! Lo hemos pasado tan bien en su acogedor y dulce apartamento que nunca lo olvidaremos y seguro que volveremos.
Adjunto una breve descripción de nuestro viaje:
Lo mejor de este viaje fue seguramente la acción de la plantación de árboles. Estuvo muy bien organizada y fue muy divertido. Todos nos desplazamos en autobús hasta ese hermoso valle (Imada), con la vista sobre el aeropuerto y ya la panorámica era maravillosa. Fue un viaje genial, sin coste para nosotros.
El chico local (guía) explicó detalladamente por qué estábamos allí, y la importancia de esta repoblación, para intentar que La Gomera recupere su flora original. Pude sentir que quien nos explicaba todo estaba fuertemente conectado con su isla, y que realmente lo estaba dando todo, para asegurarse de que incluso las generaciones futuras pudieran disfrutar de esta hermosa naturaleza. Sus palabras fueron traducidas de modo que todos pudiéramos entender de qué estaba hablando y se sentía que los que allí estábamos éramos como una gran familia, que todos juntos queríamos hacer algo por Gomera, para ayudar a esta isla a sobrevivir y a salvar la naturaleza.
Me sorprendió lo duro y seco que estaba el suelo, lo que significa que es realmente un desafío hacer que algo crezca en esta tierra árida. Es un proyecto a largo plazo y espero que se encuentren otros amigos (colaboradores) para continuar el trabajo y para estar allí regando las plantas. Los árboles son como niños pequeños, necesitan toda nuestra ayuda en su “infancia”, pero luego nos lo devolverán permitiendo almacenar el agua en la tierra y dándonos buen aire y un clima equilibrado. Así que realmente cruzo los dedos para que encuentren los apoyos precisos para continuar con este proyecto y estoy seguro de que todos los que se involucren en ese proyecto obtendrán mucha satisfacción espiritual.
Realmente lo pasamos muy bien ese día, y cuando regresemos a La Gomera, espero que nos ofrezcan una nueva oportunidad para ayudar en la repoblación, ¡gustosamente ayudaríamos de nuevo! También espero que no pierdas el ánimo y la disposición para seguir comprometiéndote con La Gomera.
¡Y espero que los turistas retornen pronto a la isla, preferiblemente los que transmitan buenas sensaciones, con los que te diviertas y que realmente la quieran!

Dear Barbara, I hope you and your family is fine an healthy and we see again soon! We had such a good time in you cosy sweet apartement we wil never forget and we’ll come back for sure.
So enclosed a short description of the trip:
The best of this journey was surely the tree planting event. It was so well organised and a big fun. We were all carried by bus to this beautiful valley with the view over the airport already the spot was marvelous. It was a very cool gratis trip over the island. The guy from the city explained very detailled why we are here and how important this event is for the island to renature the ground. I could feel how strongly he was connected to his island and that he really gave all to make sure that even future generations will be able to enjoy this beautiful nature. And all was translated so everybody was able to understand what he was talking about and it felt like a big family we all together wanted to do something for Gomera to help this island to survive and to save the nature.
I was astonished how hard and dry the soil was which means that it is really a challenge to make something grow in this dried out earth. It is a long term project and I hope you find other friends to continue the work and be there to water the plant. They are like litte children they need all our help in their «plant childhood» but later they will give it all back to us by storing the water in the earth and giving us good air and a balanced climate. So I really cross my fingers that you find other helping hands to go on with this project and I am sure everybody who engages him or herself in such project will get a lot of good karma point up in heaven 😉 We really had a lot of fun that day and when we come back I hope you offer us the next plant event we would be glad to help again! And I hope you don’t loose your courage and your pleasure to engage for Gomera!
And I hope the tourists will be back soon, but only the nice ones, you have fun with and those who really love Gomera!
